Neo´s story

What does community mean to you?
Community means a lot to me. It contains multitudes — it’s a word that cannot be described by a single other word. It’s something that holds care, something that contains resistance, and it’s many communities coming together to form that larger sense of community.
How do you find your community?
I find community everywhere – on the street, at we are village, in community centres, at sports clubs, at bars and clubs, and in the underground scene.
How do you celebrate yourself and your community?
I celebrate myself a little bit every day. Sometimes that means putting on a great outfit, but I also celebrate by cheering on others and celebrating their accomplishments.
What makes we are village unique?
we are village has a unique vibe. It brings together a lot of different stories, and I really love what gets created in the room – body work, sensuality, intimacy. By the end of a workshop, there’s always a feeling of having come closer to each other, of understanding each other better, even though we’re all very different.
Can you share a moment at we are village that felt meaningful or stayed with you?
In a Radical Empathy workshop, during the feedback round, someone came up and shared that they’re a very shy person – and that they had finally found the courage to speak out about themselves and about coming out. It was a really proud moment. Everyone cheered for them, and there was this feeling of real joy and connection. We all felt very close. That was something truly unique.
