💬 LSVD – Counselling for Legal & Psychological Support (Berlin)
As a foreigner in Berlin, you often have to deal with the stress of visa issues, residence permits, or problems with the LEA (Landesamt für Einwanderung: the Immigration Office). Well, LSVD offers free and confidential counselling for exactly this! 💪
They specialize in refugee and migration law, and can help you understand your rights and options: especially if your situation involves discrimination or bureaucratic difficulties.
🧠 They also run the MILES Project, which provides psychosocial and legal counselling, as well as support for queer refugees and migrants, all free of charge.
I actually used LSVD as a reference source for my Bachelor’s thesis: they’re well-recognized for their work and provide solid, trustworthy information and services.

It’s a safe, non-judgmental space and you can ask for help personally and confidentially 🤫🤫

🏳️🌈LGBTQ+ Counselling Center – Schwulenberatung Berlin
We all come with our own baggage and as queer people, we know life can be especially very challenging !!
The Schwulenberatung Berlin is one of the largest LGBTQ+ counselling centers in the city, with offices in Südkreuz (main center), Schöneberg, and Kreuzberg.
They offer support in many areas, including psychological counselling, HIV/AIDS support, housing issues, and help with bureaucratic or social matters. However, please note that for psychological counselling, there can sometimes be a waiting list due to high demand !!!

🏠 Housing-Related Issues
If you ever face housing problems: such as eviction, conflicts with your neighbours or flatmates, or safety concerns, there are a couple of LGBTQ+ organizations in Berlin that can really help. These NGOs understand queer realities and offer both legal advice and emotional support.
1. Queerhome – Wohnraumberatung für LSBTIQ+ in Berlin
It is part of the program from Sonntags-Club e.V, a specialized advisory service for queer (LGBTQ+) people in Berlin who are struggling to find housing, at risk of losing their home, or need support with housing issues. Counselling is mainly in German, but also available in English, Russian, Hungarian, and French.
2. Berliner Mieterverein
This is a general tenant association (not LGBTQ+ specific) but can be helpful for rental or legal housing issues for example, problems with your flatmate, landlord, or rental contract.
⚠️ Note: You must pay a membership fee in advance (valid for one year). Once you’re a member, they can offer legal assistance, for instance, if you need help contesting an eviction or problems with your Hausverwaltung.
Most of the staff speak German, but they’re professional and understanding if you bring someone to help interpret (like a friend or buddy)
————————————————————————————————————————————–
If you’re ever unsure where to go or how to reach out, your buddies can always help you contact these organizations. You don’t have to deal with housing stress alone: there are people and places here that truly care. 💛

🏙️ Finding a Home in Berlin can be very challenging, trust me, and you’re not alone in this! But don’t worry, there are a few ways to make it easier. Here are some tips and platforms that might help you find accommodation 🏘️
You can start looking on well-known websites like WG-Gesucht, Immobilienscout24, and WOLOHO. If you have pets, WG-Gesucht and Immoscout let you filter for pet-friendly housing & super helpful when you’re searching with cats or dogs. There are also great options on Telegram, for example in the telegram group: Solidarisch Wohnen in Berlin!
Honestly, word of mouth sometimes work wonders in Berlin, friends or people from the community often know someone who’s renting a room! So try checking out Meetup.com or LGBTQ+ meetup, we are village, etc. to ask around about housing. You never know: one conversation could lead to your next home! 😄🏘️
These Facebook groups are great places to check out:
- Homes for LGBTQIA – Berlin
- Queer Housing Berlin WG
- LGBTQ+ of Color WG Flats Berlin
-Found your apartment? Great! 🎉 –
But don’t forget to book your Wohnungsanmeldung: it’s super important because it’s required by law in Germany.📅You can book your appointment on service.berlin.de → “Bürgeramt” → “Anmeldung einer Wohnung.”
The website is mostly in German and can be a bit confusing, but don’t worry: we can arrange for a buddy to help you with it! 💪🏼Here’s what you’ll need to bring:
🪪 Passport
📄 Wohnungsgeberbestätigung (this form must be filled out and signed by your landlord or main tenant!)
🏠 You can also bring your rental contract, but usually it’s not required: the most important document is definitely the Wohnungsgeberbestätigung.-
