Holding yourself and others
Regenerative Touch for Queer People with Benjamin Block
Today we will explore different ways and positions of holding and being held. Holding someone while being physically and emotionally present and attentive, breathing together and simply being together, with all that you are, has a great effect on the regulation of our nervous system and thus on our mood.
I invite us to explore different ways and positions of holding and being held. How do I want to be held? How can I perhaps let go more easily? What other forms of touch could possibly support me in this and how does it feel to experience the two different “positions”?
As always, we will begin by getting a little closer to our own bodies and feeling the qualities of holding and being held within ourselves through various light body and breathing exercises. And as the evening progresses, we will give each other the space to share these experiences with each other.
Benjamin Block was born in Berlin and holds a Master’s degree in Dance. As a licensed practitioner of psychotherapy and a holistic bodyworker, Benjamin passionately dedicates himself to a lifelong exploration of embodiment, healing, and spirituality. He loves supporting people in reconnecting with the wisdom and potential of their bodies and hearts. Benjamin is a co-owner of the Studio for BodyAttention Transformation in Berlin, where he offers both one-on-one sessions and various workshop formats.
What is Regenerative Touch?
A monthly workshop where we explore together to slow down, drop into our bodies and explore the profound impact of human touch in a supportive and nurturing environment. Touch, often overlooked in daily life, is a basic human need.
In these workshops, we create a space solely for its regenerative and healing power, free from any romantic or sexual connotations.
Touch communicates directly, reaching places words cannot. Did you ever experience the calming effect of a warm embrace or a comforting hand on your shoulder? Even a brief 15-minute hand-holding session can lead to a significant decrease in heart rate, reduction in blood pressure, signalling a strong relaxation response. A simple 20-second hug can lead to higher levels of oxytocin, the hormone associated with bonding and trust.
Every Month, our trauma-sensitive facilitator will frame the evening around themes like presence, nervous system regulation, emotional safety and focus on hands-on experiences rather than too many words or techniques. No bodywork experience necessary – just bring your curiosity.
