What is a transfem voice? In this workshop you will learn about vocal gender presentation. Marlene Bellissimo will talk about why voices are considered female or male and how you can free your voice from the confines of the gender binary.
Marlene Bellissimo (aka Avelo) is a musician based in Berlin who writes songs and creates videos about music history and queer lives. As a YouTuber and TikToker she’s focused on her experience as a trans woman and what it was like to find a new voice through transition, culminating in the recently-released hour-long video essay „Finding A Trans Voice“. By bringing awareness to the range of possibilities for trans voices, she seeks to emphasize the liberatory nature of transition and the power of self expression.
