Description
Building bridges of belonging – Lonely Together? Queer Experiences with Isolation and Loneliness.
with Lana Loeser
Loneliness is a common experience that affects many in the queer community, whether it is due to discrimination, rejection, or the feeling of not being understood. As humans, we long for connection, and yet so many of us face isolation and are afraid to be our authentic selves. This workshop invites queer people to explore together their experiences of isolation and loneliness, to find resilient ways to overcome these challenges. In a supportive atmosphere, we want to share experiences, discover a strengthening of our authentic selves, and create a space of empowerment.
Lana Loeser is a non-binary, licensed psychotherapist, who represents queer-feminist ideas and approaches. Lana offers empathetic and professional support for people with mental health issues. Belonging versus loneliness: everybody can feel lonely sometimes.
As human beings we have a natural longing for social connection and support by others. Due to individual and structural discrimination queer people have an ever higher risk to suffer from chronic loneliness.
In cooperation with theLandesstelle für Gleichbehandlung – (Berlin State Office for the Equality of Treatment – against Discrimination) hat sich we are village | queer matters has set itself the goal for 2023/24 to offer some programming on the issue of loneliness in the queer community.
We have also created a survey to find out more about your experiences of loneliness. With your help, we can create a better program that meets your needs and with which we can create more togetherness!
