Description
Ethno-Movement – The Pulse of Heritage
with Munir Arreola
In this workshop, participants will immerse themselves in a physical and expressive journey through three phases of activation: bodily, animal, and festive. The session begins with a warm-up focused on muscular activation and mobility, preparing the body for deep physical and sensory engagement.
Next, participants will explore key principles of animal movement, floorwork, and release technique—connecting to primal movement patterns, instinct, and embodied presence. From there, the body will be invited to release and vibrate to the rhythms of Latin and North African music, entering a phase of dynamic, rhythmic, and possibly joyful liberation.
The workshop culminates in a collective improvisation exercise within a festive, playful, and creative atmosphere. It’s an invitation to reconnect with the essence of movement, the ancestral wisdom of the body, and the communal spirit of dance.
Munir Arreola is a Berlin-based emerging dance artist exploring identity, queerness, and migration. Influenced by his Latino-North African roots, his work draws from Mexican and Moroccan cultures, blending contemporary, flamenco, ballet, and modern dance. He has presented work in Berlin and Mexico City and performed with various artists from the Berlin scene. With a background in Visual Arts, he directs dance for “Puticlub Berlin” and the “Queer Arab Collective.” www.thuliwolf.com
Queer Bridges: Forging connections and providing resources for LGBTQIA+ people with migration experiences.
Queer people with migrant backgrounds in Berlin often face unique challenges in their daily lives that can limit their access to supportive communities and inclusive environments.
With the support of the Deutsche Fernsehlotterie Stiftung, we have developed the Queer Bridges program to overcome these barriers. We provide resources, networking and support in a welcoming environment for queer immigrants and refugees through our special program. Our goal is to foster a sense of belonging to the local LGBTQIA+ community, enabling smooth integration and an improved quality of life for queer folks with experiences of migration and/or displacement.
✅ Our Queer Bridges program will continue to evolve and we are always happy to hear about your needs. If you are interested, you can send us an e-mail to stay informed about further updates.
