VIBRANT BODY is a guided improvisational movement practice rooted in sensation, groove, and pleasure. It invites us out of the head and into the body, using movement to connect with joy, grief, and our capacity for fun. Focused on felt experience rather than appearance, Vibrant Body offers an inclusive space for queer migrant identities to meet the body as it is and feel at home in their skin.

Description

VIBRANT BODY

VIBRANT BODY with Soroa Lear

VIBRANT BODY is a guided improvisational movement practice where groove, sensation, and a commitment to bodily pleasure guide how we move. Through dancing, we step out of the head and into the body, connecting with joy, drama, heartache, grief, and our simple capacity for fun. Oriented toward felt experience rather than visual aesthetics, Vibrant Body invites a sensorial exploration of movement as it is lived. It offers migrant bodies a space to reconnect with the body as home, reclaim pleasure and agency, and transform displacement into connection and belonging through shared movement.

The practice recognizes the quiet politics of bodies dancing together, especially when pleasure is centered. Open to all movement backgrounds, Vibrant Body offers an inclusive space for queer migrant identities to meet the body as it is and feel at home in their skin.

Soroa Lear (she/her) is a queer Cuban-American dancer, performer, and writer based in Berlin. Her practice draws from physical theater, drag, dance, and nightclub culture. She approaches performance as a place to break hearts and spark laughter, moving between drama and intimacy, ugliness and beauty. Lear has worked with Staatsoper Berlin, Deva Schubert, Rebecca Howell, Sebastian Abarbanell, and Aru Ray Tormann, among others. Alongside collaborations, she creates her own work and performs regularly in nightclubs with drag artists. Her writing has been published by Penny Press and Confluence Journal. She values vulnerability, humor, excess, precision, transformation, and collective joy.

Queer Bridges: Forging connections and providing resources for LGBTQIA+ people with experiences of migration and/or displacement.

Queer people with experiences of migration and/or displacement in Berlin often face unique challenges in their daily lives that can limit their access to supportive communities and inclusive environments.

With the support of the Deutsche Fernsehlotterie Stiftung, we have developed the Queer Bridges program to overcome these barriers. We provide resources, networking and support in a welcoming environment for queer immigrants and refugees through our special program. Our goal is to foster a sense of belonging to the local LGBTQIA+ community, enabling smooth integration and an improved quality of life for queer folks with experiences of migration and/or displacement.

✅ Our Queer Bridges program will continue to evolve and we are always happy to hear about your needs. If you are interested, you can send us an e-mail to stay informed about further updates.
