Description

Manuskripte der Fremden Körper – Queer Bridges

with Ahmad Baba

The Manuscripts of Foreign Bodies Workshop invites participants to explore the body as more than just a physiological entity—it is a gateway to reconnecting with ourselves in a world often dominated by the mind.

Through this workshop, we’ll delve into emotions stored in the body, particularly those we are often conditioned to suppress, such as shame, grief, and joy. Participants will tap into the inherent strength and creative potential within their bodies using movement-based practices, dance, and other creative approaches.

This is a space to connect with your own body and others, offering an opportunity to disconnect and decolonize from inherited body norms, rewriting the stories our bodies hold in our skin and bones, and uncovering what lies beneath those layers. No prior dance experience is required.

Ahmad Baba is a multidisciplinary performance artist working across dance, multimedia, and curation. He holds an MA in Dance Movement Therapy, a body psychotherapy discipline, and works in clinical and non-clinical settings with a focus on racialized sexual and gender minorities and migrants. Ahmad also facilitates workshops in and beyond Berlin, exploring the intersection of art and mental health.

Queer Bridges: Forging connections and providing resources for LGBTQIA+ people with migration experiences.

Queer people with migrant backgrounds in Berlin often face unique challenges in their daily lives that can limit their access to supportive communities and inclusive environments.

With the support of the Deutsche Fernsehlotterie Stiftung, we have developed the Queer Bridges program to overcome these barriers. We provide resources, networking and support in a welcoming environment for queer immigrants and refugees through our special program. Our goal is to foster a sense of belonging to the local LGBTQIA+ community, enabling smooth integration and an improved quality of life for queer folks with experiences of migration and/or displacement.

✅ Our Queer Bridges program will continue to evolve and we are always happy to hear about your needs. If you are interested, you can send us an e-mail to stay informed about further updates.
