This class invites queer migrant people to explore instant composition as a space of care, resilience, and shared presence. Through dance improvisation, active listening, and guided scores, we will explore our relationship to space, time, and form from lived experiences of movement, displacement, and transformation.

Using fiction, intuition, and sensation as compositional tools, we will connect body, imagination, and voice, composing with movement and words in real time. Together we will explore the risks and pleasures of creating in the moment. No previous dance experience is required. This space welcomes diverse bodies, identities, and stories.

Risking the Void – Instant Composition Class

Risking the Void – Instant Composition Class with Dominique Tegho

This class invites queer migrant people to explore instant composition as a practice of presence, care, and creative survival. We will work with the art of creating dance in the moment, a practice Dominique has cultivated for over five years together with the collective WILD LISTENING. The class centers dance improvisation as a resource for listening, sensing, and navigating change.

Through active listening and guided scores, we will deepen our relationship to space, time, and form, drawing from lived experiences of movement, displacement, memory, and belonging. Fiction and intuition will be used as compositional tools, allowing the body to connect with imagination, sensation, and personal narratives.

Voice work will also be included, exploring how to compose with words while dancing, and how voice and movement can support each other in real-time creation. Together we will embrace the risks and pleasures of composing in the present moment.

No previous dance experience is required. This space welcomes diverse bodies, identities, and stories.

Dominique is a Berlin-based choreographer and dancer from Lebanon. She holds an MA in Choreography from HZT Berlin and is a founding member of WILD LISTENING, a dance collective focused on instant composition. She collaborates with diverse artists and develops her own choreographic works. Dominique has performed at Tanzfabrik Berlin Bühne for Tanznacht’s 25th anniversary and at venues including HKW, TATWERK, ACUD, and Uferstudios. A Wijhat 2025 Round 3 grantee (Culture Resource), she has been supported by residencies across Europe and Beirut and teaches workshops between Berlin and Beirut.

Queer Bridges: Forging connections and providing resources for LGBTQIA+ people with experiences of migration and/or displacement.

Queer people with experiences of migration and/or displacement in Berlin often face unique challenges in their daily lives that can limit their access to supportive communities and inclusive environments.

With the support of the Deutsche Fernsehlotterie Stiftung, we have developed the Queer Bridges program to overcome these barriers. We provide resources, networking and support in a welcoming environment for queer immigrants and refugees through our special program. Our goal is to foster a sense of belonging to the local LGBTQIA+ community, enabling smooth integration and an improved quality of life for queer folks with experiences of migration and/or displacement.

✅ Our Queer Bridges program will continue to evolve and we are always happy to hear about your needs. If you are interested, you can send us an e-mail to stay informed about further updates.
