In this 10th section of the Berlin Wall Trail, our route leads from Griebnitzsee station through the former enclave of Steinstücken, which was once a western island within East German territory. Relics such as tracks and ruined bridges serve as reminders of the time of division. The stage ends in Nikolassee, just past the former Dreilinden border crossing.

Description

Berlin Wall Trail - Section 10: From Griebnitzsee to Nikolassee

with Daniel Salomon and Harms Wulf

We leave Griebnitzsee station heading south, pass the buildings of the University of Potsdam to reach the former enclave of Steinstücken. A memorial reminds us that this district of West Berlin with 300 inhabitants was like an island in the territory of the GDR during the Cold War and had to be supplied by helicopter at times. In general, we will come across some relics on this section of the Berlin Wall Trail, such as tracks and destroyed bridgeheads, which remind us of the division of Germany. Shortly after the former Dreilinden border crossing, our hike ends in Nikolassee.
