R-O-N=O, Ivy Valerie Nuss, diaphanes 2025

“R-O-N=O,” subtitled “Dissociation,” is the second novel by Berlin-based author Ivy Valerie Nuss, released in 2025. The book blurs lines with its essence of queer occultism: trans people sniffing poppers, furries on ketamine, and hormones floating like UFOs. It’s debatable whether this is a novel at all.

Description

Village Buchklub | R-O-N=O | Ivy Valerie Nuss | diaphanes 2025

Hosted by Nils Philipp

“R-O-N=O,” subtitled “Dissociation,” is the second novel published in 2025 by Berlin-based author Ivy Valerie Nuss, who claims on her website to be a real person. The synopsis of this work reads like the quintessence of queer occultism: transsexuals sniff poppers, furries ketamine, and hormones float freely around like UFOs.

That this is a novel, as the book cover suggests, is open to doubt. Intriguing!

What can we discern in the lucid moments of this literary trip? And what images does it make us hallucinate?
Is enlightenment possible when you’re high? Let’s find out at a joint book discussion in March.

Nils Philippis an art and architecture educator as well as a poet, photographer and decorator. After gaining insightful experiences as a janitor, lifeguard and deli vendor, he now works, among other things, as a bookseller. While he is waiting for his breakthrough as writer or art director, he reads plenty and with pleasure.
