Description

Outdoor – Berlin Wall Trail – Section 11 – from Nikolassee S-Bahn Station to Lichterfelde Süd S-Bahn Station

with Thomas Fischer and Daniel Salamon

Our hike starts at Nikolassee S-Bahn Station. Before we reach the actual Wall Trail, the trail first leads us through one of Berlin’s most beautiful residential neighborhoods, An der Rehwiese: Magnificent period villas surround a gentle meadow landscape through which a small stream meanders.

South of Potsdamer Straße, we then meet the Wall Trail. We soon reach the Zehlendorf Forest Cemetery, where prominent Berliners such as Willy Brand, Hildegard Knef, and the architect Hans Scharoun are buried. The Border Trail continues south to an old shipyard site on the Teltow Canal. From there, we follow the canal bank towards Lichterfelde, where our September hike ends at Lichterfelde Süd S-Bahn Station.

As always: Please remember to bring a picnic lunch – it’s uncertain whether we’ll be able to stop for refreshments along the way.

What’s Village Outdoor?
Village outdoor Events are monthly meetups for the we are village community and their friends to enjoy outdoor activities in and around Berlin.
Activities include forest hikes, bike tours, swimming in lakes, sightseeing, and kayaking. Each month features a free and easy walk or hike in Berlin or its surrounding areas, accessible by public transport.

For Thomas Fischer outdoor activities and movement through nature are important to connect with his self and the world around him. Therefore, he supports outdoor activities at Village and brings 20 years of experience in exploring Berlin and Brandenburg to the programme.
As a health professional he is passionate about the interplay between mind, body and social connections. He believes that movement, curiosity and constant development are at the core of every human’s journey through life.

Daniel Salamon has enjoyed Nature and the outdoors since a very early age, has had a yoga practice since the late 1990s, and a growing interest in therapeutic and sensual touch. He has been involved in various ways with the Village, and the Radical Faeries (globally) since 2013. He lives in Berlin, has a garden in furthest Brandenburg, and can be found adventuring in other places mostly in Winter.
