Description
Regenerative Touch
Axel Pedersen-Nielsen
A monthly workshop where we explore together to slow down, drop into our bodies and explore the profound impact of human touch in a supportive and nurturing environment.
Touching and being touched by others is a basic need for most humans and a gift that is – although readily available – not much used in our daily lives. Perhaps, touch is something we associate with romantic and/or sexual relationships but in these workshops we dedicate a space to the regenerative and healing power of touch in order to support individual themes participants bring without mixing it with any erotic or sexual intent. This fosters deeper connections with ourselves and others.
Touch communicates directly and can reach us in places more difficult to address through words. Did you ever experience the calming effect of a warm embrace or a comforting hand on your shoulder? Even a brief 15-minute hand-holding session can lead to a significant decrease in heart rate, reduction in blood pressure, signaling a strong relaxation response (Grewen et al., 2005); while UCLA (the University of California LA) found a simple 20-second hug can lead to higher levels of oxytocin, the hormone associated with bonding and trust. (Light et al., 2005).
Each second Monday of the month, the facilitator will prepare a theme around regenerative touch, presence, nervous system regulation and emotional safety. We will focus less on techniques, and more on having a hands-on experience of connection. No experience with bodywork is required. Bringing your curiosity is enough. Bringing your curiosity is enough.
