Description
Village Outdoor – Hike through the Biesenthal Basin
with Thomas Fischer
Enjoying Fall in a Diverse Landscape and Protected Natural Area.
The Biesenthal Basin is a protected natural area featuring bogs and wet meadows, wooded areas, dry grasslands, and small lakes. There is much to discover and see in this extremely diverse landscape. We’ll set off together from Berlin Central Station and head to the market in Biesenthal. From there, passing by Hellmühle, we’ll walk through meadows and forests to Lobetal and Lake Mechesee, roughly halfway through the hike.
At Mechesee, there’s a place to swim for those who aren’t put off by fall temperatures. You can take a break at a café in Lobetal. We’ll pass by the grounds of the Lobetal Foundations, with their interesting history, and head back to Biesenthal through the Biesenthal Basin, which offers even more beautiful natural scenery.
Since there’s only one bus to Biesenthal per hour, we’ll meet up in Berlin and travel there together.
What’s Village Outdoor?
Village outdoor Events are monthly meetups for the we are village community and their friends to enjoy outdoor activities in and around Berlin.
Activities include forest hikes, bike tours, swimming in lakes, sightseeing, and kayaking. Each month features a free and easy walk or hike in Berlin or its surrounding areas, accessible by public transport.
For Thomas Fischer outdoor activities and movement through nature are important to connect with his self and the world around him. Therefore, he supports outdoor activities at Village and brings 20 years of experience in exploring Berlin and Brandenburg to the programme.
As a health professional he is passionate about the interplay between mind, body and social connections. He believes that movement, curiosity and constant development are at the core of every human’s journey through life.
