Queer Plant Stories – Tour in the Botanical Garden’s Greenhouses
with Bence Gáspár
If you are looking for warmth now that the cold season is really here, we would like to invite you to a tour in a true biodiversity hotspot in the city of Berlin. In about 15 different glasshouses you can discover this green oasis in tropical temperatures.
Our focus will be on the more than human intelligence of plants, and how we humans can make sense of what we are seeing in their mind-bending variety of shapes and forms. What stories are we telling ourselves about plants and what kind of solutions they come up with to the same challenges – survival, reproduction, life in community – that we humans also need to face. Maybe we can all learn something from them.
Accompanying us will be our very own Village community member and tour guide, Bence Gáspár (PhD in plant evolutionary ecology).
We gather at 12:45 on Sunday 19 November.
The meeting point will be communicated to all registered participants.
This event is free of charge in terms of organization and participation. If there are any entry or usage costs, we can cover them through private donations to ensure 100% accessibility for all. Please let us know in advance via email if you would like to take advantage of this offer. The information will be treated confidentially.
Our adventure will take about 4 hours altogether, with a Kaffe-Kuchen break in the middle.
The garden is approachable by BVG.
Hot drinks and cake widely appreciated.
