Description

Volunteer Meet-Up by Queer Bridges

with Munir and Roby

We’re inviting all we are village volunteers to join a meet-up hosted by the Queer Bridges project lead, together with our volunteer coordinator.

Many of you already bring a lot of care and awareness into our spaces—this meet-up is a chance to connect, align, and share what’s working as our community and programs continue to grow. It’s also a moment to put faces to names, get to know the Queer Bridges program, and clarify what to expect when volunteering within it. We’ll share a few practical points that can be helpful when volunteering across activities and teams.

The gathering will offer space for collective reflection on topics such as migration, asylum, forced displacement, diversity, community care, and collective responsibility.

It’s also an opportunity to exchange experiences: how we welcome participants, collaborate with facilitators, and handle everyday situations in ways that keep our spaces respectful, inclusive, and supportive—without overcomplicating things.

Bring your questions, tips, and perspectives. Your experience is a big part of what shapes our culture. This meet-up will also feed into our Volunteer Guidance Book, so it reflects real volunteer practice and supports us as we grow—together.

💬 What to expect

This space is open for your questions, experiences, and perspectives. By learning from one another, we continue strengthening a culture of mutual support and collective care within the Village.

🌟 New here? You’re very welcome

If you’re curious about getting involved, we’d especially love to welcome people who want to be part of a team co-creating a warm, welcoming queer community space—one that embraces diversity, respect, and care. No prior experience is needed—just openness and a willingness to connect. Feel free to stay afterward for informal chats and connection.

Why volunteer with we are village?

Being part of Village means more than supporting a single event—it’s about joining an ongoing journey. Together, we create meaningful, inclusive, and vibrant spaces where community can grow and thrive.

We warmly encourage you to join us for this shared moment of connection, reflection, and co-creation. 💛

Queer Bridges: Forging connections and providing resources for LGBTQIA+ people with migration experiences.
Queer people with migrant backgrounds in Berlin often face unique challenges in their daily lives that can limit their access to supportive communities and inclusive environments.

With the support of the Deutsche Fernsehlotterie Stiftung, we have developed the Queer Bridges program to overcome these barriers. We provide resources, networking and support in a welcoming environment for queer immigrants and refugees through our special program. Our goal is to foster a sense of belonging to the local LGBTQIA+ community, enabling smooth integration and an improved quality of life for queer folks with experiences of migration and/or displacement.
