Description
Village Film Night - Female Trouble (1980) by John Waters
Hosted by Pierre Emö
Female Trouble
Director John Waters
1980 – 89 mins
OV in English
To illustrate their bizarre obsession with the unbreakable link between beauty and crime, the owners of a beauty salon exploit the disfigured Dawn Davenport, a victim of an acid attack. After a series of wild escapades, she ultimately meets her fate in the electric chair. With this wicked satire on society’s obsession with beauty and thinness, John Waters cements his reputation as a master of bad taste. The drag superstar Divine delivers a stunning performance as Dawn Davenport, particularly in an unforgettable scene where he simultaneously embodies both the rapist and the victim.
