Description

Village Outdoor – Hike around Schmöckwitzer Werder

with Harms Wulf and Thomas Fischer

Located in the far southeast of Berlin, Schmöckwitzer Werder is a popular destination for day trips. The wooded peninsula invites you to hike along the shores of Zeuthener See and Krossinsee lakes. Various picnic areas invite you to rest and let your gaze wonder across the water. There are also places to swim.

We meet in Alt-Schmöckwitz at the terminus of tram line 68. From there, we cross the bridge over the Dahme River and immediately reach Schmöckwitzer Werder. From here, the trail leads us south between the edge of the forest and the shore of Lake Zeuthen to the Rauchfangswerder settlement at the tip of Schmöckwitzer Werder. We will circle the tip of the peninsula, where there is also an opportunity to take a picnic break. Please bring your own food and drink as there is no opportunity to purchase anything during the hike. At the shore of Lake Krossin, we will head north again and back to Alt-Schmöckwitz where our tour ends. Here, those who wish, can conclude the tour at on of the various cafés and restaurants available.

What’s Village Outdoor?
Village outdoor Events are monthly meetups for the we are village community and their friends to enjoy outdoor activities in and around Berlin.
Activities include forest hikes, bike tours, swimming in lakes, sightseeing, and kayaking. Each month features a free and easy walk or hike in Berlin or its surrounding areas, accessible by public transport.

Harms Wulf Harms already knows Berlin from the times of division. Since then, he has explored the urban and natural spaces of Berlin and its surroundings both professionally and privately.

For Thomas Fischer outdoor activities and movement through nature are important to connect with his self and the world around him. Therefore, he supports outdoor activities at Village and brings 20 years of experience in exploring Berlin and Brandenburg to the programme.
As a health professional he is passionate about the interplay between mind, body and social connections. He believes that movement, curiosity and constant development are at the core of every human’s journey through life.
